Sleeping Affects Memory

Hamburg University made the following experiment.

They assigned 100 students to learn the Chinese language for one week.
They divided them in to two groups, the first group would sleep for 8 hours at least after the classes while the other group for just 4.

One week later the first group aquired basic knowledge of the Chinese language while the other one failed.

Another experiment this time from Harvard University which involved 48 participants showed that sleep is an important element in the brain's ability to remember new facts and information.
All of the participants were given 20 paired words which they had to memorize.
Twelve hours later the participants were tested.
The first group that slept scored 13% more than the group that went without sleep.

Such findings are very intresting as we realise the importance of sleep for the brain and memory.
